A Depot is a local outlet for guiding uniform
and resources. It is run by volunteers who have a wealth of
guiding experience and knowledge. If you have a Depot, it
is one of the best ways to access Trading Service locally.
Each Depot is set up in a way that suits local circumstances.
Some offer a personalised mail order service, where the Depot
manager visits units, perhaps with some uniform samples, and
takes orders. Some have a fixed location, such as the Depot
manager’s spare room. More established Depots may have
their own shop or be located within a meeting place or County
headquarters.
Each Depot has its own opening hours, depending on local
custom and the availability of the volunteers. Some are also
keen to visit units or to attend trainings and County Days.
Why use one?
A Depot benefits guiding in several ways:
- All guiding stock is purchased from Trading Service,
which returns an immediate benefit to guiding.
- Local guiding benefits directly from profits raised.
- Local guiders, parents and girls benefit from the easy
access to guiding essential products and the knowledge and
enthusiasm of the Depot volunteers.
